Since 2005 the School of Planning, Building and
Environment consolidated all design, construction and environment
related studies at the TU Berlin. This lends the school an outstanding
profile in an international context and also provides ideal conditions
for interdisciplinary teaching and research. Our subject spectrum
covers environmentally friendly, climate conscious design and
construction, population and ecosystem research, remote sensing and
the study of infrastructure in congested areas. The school's teaching
priority lies in preparing students for a world shaped by technology.
The school also leads the university's research in the field of
"Designing Sustainable Habitats - Die Gestaltung von
Lebensräumen."
International
Studies
Architects and civil engineers, urban and
regional planners, set designers and scenographers, landscapers and
environmental planners, geo-engineers, social scientists,
geo-scientists and ecologists, conduct research and teach here. More
than 79 professors, most of them involved in exchanges with research
institutions throughout the world, supervise our 4.400 students. The
School of Planning, Buildung and Environment is the largest at the TU
Berlin an also the largest school for issues of design and
construction in Germany. Growing numbers of lectures and seminars in
English, joint degrees and internation co-operations add to our
program's international appeal.
Future Prospects
and Market Orientation
All 16 study programs at
the School of Planning, Building and Environment have been
re-established as bachelor and master degree courses. This new
structure affords the oppotunity to offer further fields of
specialization and new master degrees. These include Germany's only
masters courses in Urban Design, Geodesy and Geoinformation Sciences
and Urban Ecosystem Sciences. The School of Planning, Building nd
Environment offers five programs in continuing education - Historic
Preservation, Park and Garden Conservation, Stage Design_Spatial
Composition, Real Estate Management and Urban Management - and thus is
the leading institution for continuing education at the TU Berlin. Its
interdisciplinary subject and program structure makes it the only
school of its kind in the country as well as in an international
context.
